Short Term Ministries

Each year we strive to identify a short term mission project that will allow our teens and leadership the opportunity to serve others; whether with our own field missionaries or others that have a demonstrated need for support. Serving in Short-Term Ministries will stretch you both personally and spiritually. You'll be exposed to different people, different customs, and sometimes a different language. Each year the setting offers an exciting atmosphere to trust God as we work together to support and minister to others. The rewards and blessings are out of this world!

For the past seven years Steve and Nancy Marshall have answered God's call to help with this important mission and ministry. And this year, together with Chris O'Connell, they joined with a team of twenty comprised of surgeons, anesthesia and nursing staff, as well as several non-medical workers. The primary purpose of the team was to share God's love through the use of medical skills to repair cleft lip and palate deformities on children and young adults. Fifty adults and children made a decision to follow Christ, many for the first time while others rededicated their lives to Him.

During their two weeks, over ninety surgeries were completed on children as young as three months upward to young adults as old as twenty-seven years. Steve used his nursing skills in the recovery room while Nancy and Chris assisted in the clinic, interacted with patients and their families, and completed paperwork.

Prior to the trip, funds were raised to assist a local lunch program for primary school children who otherwise would be hungry during the day. It was a joy for Chris and Nancy to visit the program and encourage the leader, Margaret, in her work.

Youth Mission's Trip - Lima Peru - July 31 through August 11, 2009

This summer 23 of our Sr. High teens and leaders will embark on a special short-term mission's trip to Lima, Peru. We will be supporting the efforts of missionary Stan Templeton in three new churches in the capital city of Lima, while giving our youth the opportunity to broaden their ministry for Christ. The teens will be presenting the gospel through many avenues such as special music, VBS, door-to-door evangelism, street witnessing, and soccer. Stay tuned for future updates from Lima Peru.

Each member of our mission's team will be raising their own support for the trip. The anticipated cost is approximately $1,400.00 per person. While cost may seem a barrier, given these difficult economic times, we know that if this is God's will, then He will provide. But that doesn't mean that we won't do our part in raising support too. We have planned a number of fundraisers such as car washes, pretzel, hoagie and plant sales, plus home projects for our church members.

Please join with us as our prayer partners, and prayerfully consider how you may be able to help support this endeavor financially as well. If you would like more information about this mission opportunity, please contact Jeff Wahlberg, youth director, or the church office. We'd love to share with you the joy of service, and how you can be a part of this important ministry.
