FOF "Fundamentals of the Faith" Introduction
New Classes have started - will have more shortly
Purpose of the study: There
are many times when a coach has to take his team aside and drill them
on the fundamentals,
because they
are so easily forgotten. It is
easy for us to become sidetracked, and to lose sight of what is basic
and fundamental. This series on "The Fundamentals of the Faith" is
an attempt to refocus our attention on the things that are important.
This series covers the basics, much like a 101 level class in school
today.
So the information we cover is just the essential, fundamental elements
that we hold as Christians.
The "Fundamentals of the Faith" are those truths which guide
and govern our lives. They are the anchors of our faith; the standards
by which we measure and weigh all other claims to truth. They are the
basis for our priorities. They determine our eternal destiny as they
should
direct our earthly life.
While
Bible teaching is the core element of the FOF ministry, prayer
and fellowship
among believers plays an important role in the vitality
of
the ministry. That’s why, as an outgrowth of the FOF classes;
we encourage all to join an Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) class.
It is here
that authentic community, friendships and fellowship are developed,
and where the next dimension of spiritual growth takes place.
These small
group environments encourage interaction between the teacher
and student. Many Paul-Timothy relationships are built through
the Fundamentals
of the Faith and Adult Bible Fellowship studies.
Fundamentals of the Faith Objectives:
1. Establish a foundational knowledge of God’s
Word
2. Gain understanding of God's purposes
3. Develop beliefs rooted in God's Word
4. Build spiritual habits of doing God's Word
5. Demonstrate Christ-like character in daily living
6. Commit to continuous spiritual growth process
